|  “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)   |

God’s construction project involves offering us
new opportunities through the provision of
Doors which He encourages us to walk through.

1. Jesus (John 10:9 “I am the door.”)

The most important door. All other doors are on the other side of Jesus so we must enter this door first.

We need to focus on Jesus to be reconstructed. As we continue to keep our eyes on Him the Holy Spirit will gradually transform us into looking more like Christ. The Spirit equips us with “immeasurable power” and grace as we walk with Jesus (Ephesians 1:16-19, Mark 9:23).

Colossians 2:6-7 (MSG) reminds us that we have what it takes in Christ:
“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him.”

2. New Thinking (Romans 12:2)

God is in the ‘thinking change business’. One thought can change your world. Often the new thought comes from other people or through studying the Word and/or other resources. Be creative and allow God to use your imagination to see things from a different perspective. (Eph 3:20)

Consider Blockbuster video and Netflix. One was willing to think creatively about the future and the other resisted change and missed their big opportunity.  What door of new thinking might God be leading you through?

3. Enlargement/Expansion

Isaiah 54:2a “…enlarge the place of your tent..."

Jesus’ reconstructed version of us is an enlarged one. He expects us to step out into new territory. Often we know that He is putting the opportunity to step out in front of us, because we are fed up and feeling constrained: Where we are now has become too small. We have faith and learn to rely on Jesus when we try something new, something bigger - like Peter stepping out of the boat.

Be bold and courageous, take opportunities to grow and trust God to be with you (Joshua 1:3-6).

4. Calling

We are ALL called, no one is left out. God can use us all, and calls all of us to specific actions and purposes. Never discount the small beginnings. Just as Jesus is the first “door” or “opportunity” we choose, others will follow if you keep walking through them.

Doubts will inevitably arise so choose to believe that God knows what He’s doing with you. Philippians 4:13 “….you can do all things in Christ.” God will fill in what is lacking or weak in your life.

5. Trials/Opposition (James 1:2-4)

Sometimes there are doors we do not want to walk through because they lead to trials. There can also be opposition from the enemy when we choose to take an opportunity from God. Difficulties are unavoidable but God assures us that He will be with us and that we can grow stronger through them. We need to stand firm knowing God will not leave us nor forsake us.

Choose to walk with boldness and courage through whatever Door the Lord has put before you knowing an incredible inheritance (1 Peter 1:3-7) awaits us.

Something to talk about:

1. Share with each other what kind of Door you believe the Lord is directing you towards at the moment.

2. Share an example of when you took an enlarged step to find the Lord was leading you to an even bigger purpose.

3. Share an example of when you’ve discovered a hidden treasure when walking through a trial.
