Over the past few weeks our #scriptureinprimaryschools team has gone back to school for Scripture classes (also known as SRE). We’ve been excitedly waiting for our schools to prepare a space for us, but in their hearts the team was ready way ahead of time.
We had an all team meeting earlier this year, where we talked, prayed, learned and connected.
We gained some new team members who were welcomed with open arms. The team consists of many great people who are passionate about this ministry.
The CEV version of the Bible (which we use in classrooms) says in 2 Corinthians 5:20,
“We were sent to speak for Christ, and God is begging you to listen to our message. We speak for Christ and sincerely ask you to make peace with God.”
This is reflected both in our team motto “Presenting Lessons & Representing Christ” and in the way the team conducts themselves.
We use materials from the CEP Connect series. It is simple to follow, preparation becomes part of our weekly studies, because it is all bible based. The team loved their first day teaching scripture in schools for 2018.
When I asked them to describe their experiences in classrooms recently, this is what they said:
“My class is awesome and the kids are very inquisitive and engaged!”
“What a brilliant and beautiful group of children and lovely teachers.”
“I feel most privileged to be in their classroom!”
“Today was brilliant!”
“So many new kids to reach!”
“God’s power is amazing, the children are excited.”
“The lesson was crazy, fun and lovely.”
“We played bible games. Can’t wait till next week!”
It’s not too late to join us on the team for 2018. Come have fun with us and impact the next generation!
