DATES: Sunday 15th May to Sunday 29th May 2022
WHAT WE WANT FOR PEOPLE: To see that ‘ministry’ is not occupying a staff role at Church. That in fact those on staff at our Church exist to equip and empower the people to go and be ministers in the world (Ephesians 4:12-16). That we are called and anointed to walk in the purpose of God every day of the week, not just on Sundays. That ministry belongs in the hands of the people and that in Jesus’ Kingdom we are all called to make a difference.
Week 1: We Are Empowered – 15th May 2022
Acts 1-7, specifically Acts 1:8
What we want for our people (Main Point of the Message): That the purpose of gathering, is to be empowered by the Holy Spirit to go and make a difference in the world.
This week, coming out of the victory of Easter and the ascension, we want our people to know the power of being filled with the Holy Spirit and going into all the world.
- The first step of being “ministers in the world” is to be filled and empowered.
- The second is to be a community of unity
Week 2: We Are Ready – 22nd May 2022
What we want for our people (Main Point of the Message): We are gathered to be empowered; we are ‘scattered’ to bring life and reconciliation to the world. This week the desire is for our people to know that the purpose of gathering is not to gather. The purpose of the church is not the church but to bring life and reconciliation to the world. When the church ‘scatters’ the real mission of the church begins. If the church meets for an hour a week, the other 167 hours the church is still alive and active, but not in the four walls of the church building. In the homes, offices, schools, cafes, and streets of our communities.
Week 3: We Are Different – 29th May 2022
What we want for our people (Main Point of the Message): That we are different to make a difference. The teams of disciples that went out including Paul in Acts went to the ends of the earth as they knew it and changed the society around them. They didn’t go into society and “fit in” they were different to make a difference. It is in the “in this world but not of it” in John 17 that Jesus prays for.
