DATES: Sunday 27th November to Sunday 25th December 2022
WHAT WE WANT FOR PEOPLE: To experience the joy and reality of what Christmas is about: Jesus coming as a man to dwell among us. To ask ourselves, what does Christmas mean to me and hear stories from the Bible of how the birth of Jesus impacted people’s lives. For the hearts that are hopeless and the minds that are darkened to be filled with the simple hope and light that it is Jesus who comes to sit at the table with them and offer them the gospel.
BOOK/THEME: Gospel stories
Table Stories
We all have our Jesus story, it’s how we came to meet him, how He has changed our lives, how He has walked with us through the ups and downs. This series is all about Christmas at the Table. We have a seat at the table because of Jesus, and through the spirit of hospitality we make room for others at this table. This campaign is all about experiencing the joy and reality of what Christmas is about:
- Jesus coming as a man to dwell among us; for the hearts that are hopeless and the minds that are darkened to be filled with the simple hope and light that is Jesus; that we remember and celebrate Him during Christmas.
Delving into Christmas at the Table, we want to listen in on the table conversations of individuals talking about Jesus answering the questions:
What Does Christmas mean to you?
We celebrate the birth of Christ because… He brought peace, freedom from sin, forgiveness, healing, eternal life, restoration with the Father and so much more.
Each week we are choosing to focus on one person in the Bible, and like they are sitting at our Christmas Table with us, we are chatting about Jesus with them. What was He like, how did they get saved, what changed in their lives?
Jesus encountered people at The Table. It was a place of equality, a place of intimate conversation, teaching, honesty, and truth.
As leaders each week we want to really get the person’s “story” across. This is about being a great storyteller – study the person, imagine what they would say if they were sitting at our Christmas table. Also, we want to get the key salvation message that each person brings: redemption, restoration, forgiveness etc.
All are welcome at the table. There is abundance of food and wine, spiritual food (John 4:32), living water and bread (John 7:37-38 and John 6:35).
